Heather was raised in Ashland, NH and received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. As a USDA National Fellow, she went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Food Engineering from Rutgers University, researching the cooking of baked goods using commercial jet impingement ovens. She has a wide range of food experience, having worked at Unilever (Gorton’s Seafood), Welch’s Foods and Ahold USA (multinational grocery chain) in the areas of food engineering, project management and strategic sourcing/purchasing. While there, she served on new product development teams and helped products go from bench-top development to full-scale manufacturing.

Heather’s interest in organic and local foods led her to an amazing farm (Tangerini’s Spring Street Farm) in Millis, MA where she got her start in marketing. She started out small, bartering her marketing services for produce at the farm. From there, she built Cover Crop Marketing, which has served multiple customers and markets with a focus on project management, website design, branding, and social campaigns.
